200-hour Yoga Teacher Training
(led by Sarah Diedrick and Caitlin Pascucci)
This accredited 200-hour RYT program is rooted in the principles of supporting individuality and also growing our empowered community, or sangha, through the shared practice of yoga. In this training you will be encouraged to question and become curious about the ways you live in your mind, body, spirit and the world. With carefully crafted tools and insights, you will have the opportunity to dive deeper into your yoga practice and weave these tools into your life off the mat. This training will be held in the container of Tantra, these teachings will be the core of your studies, meant to enliven all of the other topics in this course.
About the training
The program is designed to help you build and maintain supportive habits and practices that both serve your personal practice and the practice of the students you teach.
Some of our biggest values in leading foundational teacher trainings are:
-
building relationships connecting with your authentic mission & vision
-
applying your practice both on and off the mat
-
living a life of service, to self and others, that acknowledges the value of community and our shared (and very precious) human experience
At the end of each training we’ve done, the reflection has always been: the yoga practices themselves are so valuable and important, but it’s how you apply them to relationships and everyday life that really create the powerful, long-lasting effects.
In this training, we will work toward developing a depth and breadth of knowledge, based on the foundation that we are all living beings, and by working together, we can thrive. How can we serve ourselves in a fulfilling way so that we may more greatly serve others? We believe strongly in “humble radiance” – remembering that we are all sharing the same space and figuring it out, whether we are a student or a teacher.
Becoming a yoga teacher means you are committing to being a lifelong student; your level of studentship will directly influence your quality of teaching. This is a great chance to indulge in being a total student for the sake of greater service! Participants will receive homework to support and enhance their learning as well as a training manual, accompanying workbook, and both a required and recommended booklist.
A unique and exciting aspect of our teacher training is our mentorship program. You will have access to a mentor, who will serve as your resource for more personalized attention and guidance. This relationship is extremely beneficial for taking this body of knowledge and figuring out how it applies to your own unique offerings.
This training is suited for anyone who wants to deepen their own yoga practice and/or teach yoga. You will be given homework that will help you practice and apply the teachings and you will be expected to complete your non-contact hour requirements to receive your certification. By the end of the training, you will not only learn how to teach a well-rounded and intelligent alignment-based vinyasa class; you will deepen your studentship and learn what makes you irreplaceable as a teacher so that you can share your gifts authentically with the world.
Sample topics covered in the 200hr RYT Training
ANATOMY: A deep understanding of biomechanics and how to translate anatomy knowledge into practice and teaching.

ASANA LAB: Break down of primary asanas, how to cue, how to modify and how to build up from the base. Learn key alignment actions that can be translated into many other poses. This is not about memorizing postures and their alignment; it’s about learning the mechanics of the body so you can feel confident breaking down any asana.

PHILOSOPHY: Exposure to various yoga philosophies, with a focus on Tantra. This will be deepened with lecture, dharma discussion and book club. Tantra is a school of philosophy that helps us discover how we can find more ease and joy in this life by affirming our worth and our connection to the divine. Known as the “householder” philosophy, this school of thinking helps us realize how we can discover and live through our greater desires and purpose.

LANGUAGE: Explore the language of yoga: Sanskrit, chanting, and mantra. This also covers your own unique voice as a teacher and learning what type of language feels genuine to you.

MEDITATION: How to teach meditation and how to weave it into your daily life.

SEQUENCING: Design an intelligently sequenced class that incorporates elements such as body mechanics, meditation and pranayama.

ASSISTING: Learn how to give hands-on assists as well as other types of assists that do not include hands-on touch. Building on body mechanics and anatomy, you will learn how to give an assist with confidence, care and with knowledge of how the body is moving and how you can assist those movements.

HOW TO TEACH: How to teach a yoga class including: theming, alignment principles, detailed review of asana, cueing and language, creating and developing sequences, assisting, leading savasana and yoga nidra, offering adaptive practices, and finding your own voice and teaching style. Teaching methodology will help you apply the teachings and get practice teaching others in the program.

THE BUSINESS OF YOGA: The business of teaching yoga and how to optimize your teaching career, if you do decide to teach.
What Happens After the Training?
After completing the Sangha Studio Yoga Teacher Training you can expect continued support in your yoga practice, personally and professionally. Should you choose to not teach, that’s perfectly fine. Just because you do an RYT program doesn’t mean you have to teach, and we understand that. Regardless, our faculty promises to be here for you along the way and offer their resources. This training hopes to offer tools that leave its participants in a more grounded, knowledgeable, confident and supported place than when they began. As a Sangha Studio Teacher Training graduate, you will receive continued mentorship, resources and the invitation to assist your teachers and mentors during classes, workshops and various other events. We believe that continuing to study with your teachers and act as an “apprentice” can take your teaching to the next level.
